Good Job Dad!

This has to be one of the coolest recognitions I have ever seen. The best part is that it is for my own father. Proud of you Dad!!

Our "new" car!

The search is over; we bought a "new" car! It is a 2002 Dodge Stratus, so it's not really new, but new to us. The car itself has 85,000 miles on it, but it has a brand new engine with less than 600 miles, so that is a bonus. It is super roomy inside with black leather interior. It also has a sunroof, but I keep calling it a moonroof. ha ha The sunroof was a big hit with the kids. They especially loved it when we went through the car wash this afternoon! All in all we are very happy and excited to own this car.

Ta-da!!

Very posh faux woodgrain!

The back seats complete with the garbage bag Gram bought the boys to keep the car nice and neat.

Yes dear, that is our camera bag laying in the middle of the neighbors parking spot. :)

The 2009 Burger Talent Show

Talent show time is here again folks! Now this really is my favorite Jacob day of the year. I always get so teary eyed watching these beautiful children get up and sing and dance without the slightest bit of fear. It makes me so much more grateful that Heavenly Father blesses us with these sweet spirits. They always do a great job!

I was also excited because we were able to get a digital recording of him this year with our new camera! So, without further ado, here he is!

Pinewood Derby...the second attempt.

Wow, first of all, what I loser have I been in the blogging community as of late. I haven't even checked other peoples blogs in weeks, which used to be my favorite way to start the day! Oh well, here is my chance for redemption!

Jacob's Pinewood Derby was two Wednesdays ago. As most of you will remember, "Speedy", his last car, was not so...well...speedy. This year I am afraid to say was a total flop as well. Jacob, Carl and I are just not made out for racing! Jacob is the designer, and we are the elbow grease for the most part. We got some tips for the next time, but we were dead last this time. Every race he was last. Not a happy camper. At one point, he again had come in last, but the winner of that heat was Jacob! Jacob H. that is, not Jacob B.. But, they got him to believe that it was him anyway, just so he wouldn't be so sad and disappointed. Poor guy!

The start of the race! Jacob's is the "Silver Bullet" on the left. The one that looks like a rounded off chunk of wood? Yeah, that's the one.

Jacob losing the race. This is how they all went. Do you see the blur next to the Asian kids face? Yeah, that is our car. Oh the trauma that is Pinewood Derby!

Christmas Eve photos

I didn't get any photos of Christmas with our camera, but Carl did get some of Christmas Eve. Here are the boys in their new PJ's hamming it up in front of the tree. I think that Mandy did get some Christmas day one's though, so I will post those here ASAP.

New Years Eve

I still haven't uploaded my Christmas photos...I haven't been feeling too well this weekend. But, my niece Lauren got a new digital camera for Christmas and took a few shots of us when they came over for New Years Eve. Thought I would share them with you all.

You break my heart!

Ok, I know it has been a VERY long time since I have posted, but I have to tell you that the thought of posting all about the holidays has been daunting so I have avoided it. So, I thought that this would be a great way to get back into the swing of things again.

As most of you know, Carl's new position at work requires him to be up and leave at 3:30 in the morning. So, he is in bed most times by 8. Last night I was so exhausted that I was in bed with Carl before the kids were even asleep. Of course they kept waking me up, and finally at 9:30 I got up and made Alex go to bed.

So, here I am in grumpy zombie Mom mode trying to get Alex to say his prayers and go to sleep. The catch is that he has a hard time going to sleep lately because he gets scared of being alone at night. It's not the dark, because he wants it dark as can be in his room, it's just his imagination goes wild. So I usually sit with him for about 5 minutes until he is asleep or close to it and then go bed myself.

I tell you, last night I was about to pass out on the floor, and I was trying not to lose my cool or fall asleep and he kept goofing off and plying me with love, so I snapped at him a little. When I did, he laid back, looked me right in the eye and said, "Mom, you break my heart sometimes." Ugh!!! How horrible! So of course, I accepted this as my being snappish and apologized, reminding him that I was SO tired and needed him to go to sleep. I then get, "You break my heart all the time. You break it because you are so beautiful, and good looking." Well, how can you stay grumpy and sleepy after that?! Ha ha He is going to make a wonderful husband someday. Of course he gets it from his Father, which makes it even better.
