Ugh,,,

I have had the Martian Death Flu for at least 3 days now. Today was the first day that Carl had to go to work since I have been sick. It started out ok, I was feeling pretty good about my recovery. Then, my body decided that that had been a pretty funny joke, and brought back the fever and the chills and the aches. Ugh...My eyes are glazing over as I write this, but I wanted to acknowledge my AWESOME boys. Jacob cleaned the bathroom for me today, without being asked, and Alex washed my dishes. How awesome! Also, Since school is out for Mid-Winter break Lauren has been here with her brother Trey and she even picked up my living room for me the other day. Props to my now 13 year old Niece!! Happy Birthday Lauren!!! By the way, this is Christina if you haven't guessed, even though I am logged in as Carl. My brain can't figure out how to change that right now! ha...I love being sick...

Pinewood Derby

Here are some belated pictures of Jacob and Alex after the Pinewood Derby. "Speedy" as it is named, finished every race in last place. Guess it forgot what it's name was. We were super proud none the less since this was our first derby ever. Jacob won the award for the "Most Colorful Paint Job". This award is pretty neat because the judges were fellow scouts.

Tricks of the Trade

Jacob and I thought it would be appropriate to show you all the "tricks of our trade". Jacob loves to show EVERYONE his equipment, so now he can show the world!

This is Jacob's monitor. We check his blood sugar at least 4 times a day. Before breakfast, lunch and dinner, then at bedtime before his snack. Of course, if it looks like his sugar is low or high, he has to get checked as well. He has become a super pro at this, and for a time was checking his own sugar under supervision, but he seems to like it best when we do the actual poke instead of him.

This is the Lantus SoloStar pen. This is his long lasting insulin, which goes for 24 hours. We give this to him right after breakfast. It stings and burns a bit, but he has been super brave! I think he deals with it so well because it is only once a day.
This is Jacob's Humalog pen. He takes this short acting insulin after every meal. He must also take it if he has a snack, let's say at a birthday party, and it totals more than 15-20 carbs. Yes, we are all about carbs now! Jacob has decorated his case for this pen with stickers and his name.

Well, now Jake can boast that he has shown everyone who cares to see, what his stuff looks like. But, be warned, he LOVES to show how it all works even more!

Poor Shamed House

Tonight I got a call from Carl's Mom. She was calling to let us know that she saw our house listed online. Yes, the house is for sale now, I guess it was never auctioned off after all. But, I regret to say that the poor old house is not getting the price it deserves. You ready for this? $24,900! How shamed our poor house must be to have that low a price tag! I only wish it had been that much when we bought it!!! The mortgage company will certainly lose it's pants on this one...or we will since we will more than likely be held responsible for the difference. Yay bankruptcy!

(Really, I am not pleased at all about this, but when I get upset, I use humor to keep me sane, so humor me)

Here is their description, which for anyone who has been in our house, is a pretty accurate description. (except the 1 1/2 car garage part...it's more like a 3/4 car garage!)

What is in February?

In a car trip recently, the boys and I began talking about groundhogs day. It was fun for a while, but then I though, as a learning tool, that I would prompt them to name to other things in February. We have a lot of family members with February birthdays and of course there is the all important Valentines Day. So I asked, "What else is in February?" Jacob's hand shot right up, "Black History Month!"

Guess I was the one who had something to learn!
